Sarah Bush Lincoln Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, of Mattoon, Ill., recently announced the addition of orthopedic surgeon James Kohlmann, MD, to its team.
Here are four thoughts:
1. Dr. Kohlmann had a private practice in the area for more than 24 years before he left for a different area.
2. Dr. Kohlmann grew up in Champaign, Ill., earning his medical degree from the University of Illinois School of Medicine in Chicago. He completed an internship and his residency in orthopedic surgery at University of Illinois-affiliated hospitals in Chicago, where he worked in the trauma units of several Cook County hospitals.
3. Dr. Kohlmann said he knew he always wanted to be adoctor since childhood, but it wasn't until a clinical rotation in orthopedics that he discovered his love of the field.
4. Dr. Kohlmann treats "virtually every" musculoskeletal injury and condition, including spinal stenosis and herniated intervertebral discs. He has performed numerous joint replacement surgeries and is "amazed" by the technological improvements he has seen in implants over the last few years. Additionally he is one of the only surgeons in the area trained to perform anterior approach hip replacement surgery.
