WHOOP and the NFL Players Association have agreed to improve player health together by distributing a wearable health monitoring device called WHOOP Strap 2.0s to every NFL player.
Here are five things to know:
1. The agreement is the first between a professional sports players association and a wearable technology company.
2. NFL players will now have access to, ownership of and the chance to commercialize their WHOOP data and health.
3. The WHOOP Strap 2.0 will monitor players' strain, recovery and sleep.
4. The device optimizes training and recovery and reduces injuries.
5. The collaborators hope empowering players will improve their health and increase financial opportunities for all involved.
Los Angeles Chargers player Russell Okung said, "I want to recover faster, avoid injuries, and have a longer career. This partnership has the potential to contribute to my health, which is imperative to my career in football."
