East Lansing-based Michigan State University agreed to pay $500 million to settle lawsuits filed by survivors of former MSU physician Larry Nassar's sexual abuse, the Detroit Free Press reports.
The settlement covers all 332 current claimants. MSU will pay $425 million now and hold $75 million in reserve should other victims of Mr. Nassar come forward. How much money each survivor will receive has yet to be determined.
The deal was announced May 16 after two days of closed-door mediation sessions between lawyers for MSU and the survivors.
