Anaheim, Calif.-based Servite High School named its new sports medicine center the Dr. Ben Rubin Sports Medicine Center after orthopedic surgeon Ben Rubin, MD, according to Angelus News.
Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Rubin is a founding member of the Orthopedic Specialty Institute in Orange, Calif, and an orthopedic surgeon at Irvine, Calif.-based Hoag Orthopedic Institute.
2. With expertise in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery, Dr. Rubin serves as an assistant clinical professor of orthopedics at UC Irvine School of Medicine.
3. Dr. Rubin has served as Servite's team physician for almost 40 years. Previously, he served as a team physician for the U.S. Diving team as well as for the 1984, 1988 and 1992 Olympic Games.
4. After earning his medical degree from Philadelphia-based Medical College of Pennsylvania, Dr. Rubin completed his residency at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. He underwent dual fellowship training in sports medicine at Boston-based New England Baptist Hospital and Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
5. Dr. Rubin is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and Olympic Sports Medicine Society.
