Andrew Dossett, MD, diagnosed Washington Wizards forward Markieff Morris with transient cervical neuropraxia, NBA.com reports.
Here's what you should know:
1. Dr. Dossett examined Mr. Morris' neck and upper back after the 29-year-old began experiencing stiffness in the area following the Wizards' Dec. 26, 2018 game.
2. Mr. Morris initially sustained the injury during the team's Dec. 16, 2018 game.
3. Mr. Morris will remain in recovery for six weeks, during which he will be limited to non-contact basketball activities.
4. Dr. Dossett is a spine surgeon at the Carrell Clinic in Dallas. He specializes in cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine disorders as well as spine athletic injuries.
5. A fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Dossett is also a member of the NFL Team Physicians and MLB Team Physicians.
