Board-certified sports medicine physician Ivette Guttmann, MD, joined Bennington-based Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, according to the Bennington Banner.
Four things to know:
1. In addition to the Bennington location, Dr. Guttmann will practice at SVMC Northshire Campus in Manchester Center and Twin Rivers Medical in Hoosick Falls, N.Y.
2. Dr. Guttmann earned her medical degree at the Universidad Autónoma de Centro América in Granadilla, Costa Rica, and underwent primary care sports medicine training at the Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center.
3. She served as the team physician for the University of Miami Athletics and has provided medical coverage for the New York Giants training camp in Albany.
4. Dr. Guttman is a former professional athlete. She was a record-breaking quarterback for the Independent Women's Football League Orlando Starz and captain of the Orlando Mayhem.
