After visiting Timothy Kremchek, MD, and Neal ElAttrache, MD, Cincinnati Reds' top pitching prospect Hunter Greene will undergo Tommy John surgery, MLB.com reports.
What you should know:
1. Mr. Greene has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
2. The 19-year-old pitcher will miss the entire 2019 season. He strained his UCL July 26, 2018, and attempted to rehab from the injury. He suffered a setback in late March.
3. Dr. ElAttrache is an orthopedic surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles. He is the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Foundation board chairman and program director for the Kerlan-Jobe fellowship.
4. Dr. ElAttrache is the head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Rams. He is also an orthopedic consultant to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and PGA Tour.
5. Dr. Kremchek is an orthopedic surgeon at Cincinnati-based Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. He is the Reds' medical director.
