Three orthopedic surgeons from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine are collaborating to treat athletes of professional soccer team, the Birmingham Legion FC.
Four things to know:
1. The orthopedic surgeons are Amit Momaya, MD, Michael Johnson, MD, and Stephen Gould, MD.
2. The athletes are treated at UAB sports medicine clinics for common soccer injuries which include ankle sprains, contusions, hamstring conditions, as well as anterior cruciate ligament or meniscus tears and shoulder injuries.
3. The orthopedic surgeons serve in conjunction with three other sports medicine physicians — Sara Gould, MD, Kennieth McCollough Jr., MD, and Irfan Asif, MD.
4. UAB Orthopaedics features a sports medicine clinic at UAB Highlands Hospital in Birmingham, treating athletes of all levels.
