Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network is collaborating with professional soccer team the Pittsburgh Riverhounds to construct a $16 million sports medicine and training facility in Coraopolis, Pa., reports KDKA Radio.
Three insights:
1. A 20,000-square-foot AHN medical facility will provide comprehensive orthopedic and sports medicine services and include walk-in primary care seven days a week.
2. The 78-acre facility, known as AHN Montour Health and Sports Medicine Center, will feature 10 turfed FIFA regulation-sized soccer fields.
3. Construction is planned to begin in August with completion set for the middle of next year.
"It helps bridge that gap to get people ready for competition, so we'll have sports medicine physicians, primary care physicians, orthopedic surgeons as well as sports performance," said AHN’s Orthopedic Chair, Patrick DeMeo, MD.
