The Exercise is Medicine on Campus program at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville won bronze at the American College of Sports Medicine meeting in Orlando, Fla, according to the university's website
The program was established in 2014 to generate a culture of health and wellness on school campuses. U of A was one of 139 universities to be honored worldwide.
Faculty and students are encouraged to improve their health and wellness by making movement a part of daily culture, assessing physical activity at every health visit and connecting university healthcare providers with university health fitness specialists.
"These campus programs are nurturing future leaders who will advance a key tenet of Exercise is Medicine: making physical activity assessment and promotion a standard in health care," Robyn Stuhr, vice president of Exercise is Medicine.
