Dr. Neal ElAttrache fixed the torn labrum of Minnesota Twins center fielder Byron Buxton on Sept. 10, the Minnesota StarTribune reports.

What you should know:

1. Mr. Buxton partially tore the labrum in his left shoulder. The rehabilitation process will keep him out of action for up to six months.

2. Mr. Buxton will rejoin the team as a spectator in the dugout as they make a playoff run.

3. Dr. ElAttrache is an orthopedic surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles. He is the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Foundation board chairman and program director for the Kerlan-Jobe Sports Medicine Fellowship.

4. Dr. ElAttrache is the head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Rams. He is also an orthopedic consultant to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and PGA Tour.
