1. Mr. Brees tore the ligament in his right thumb. Mr. Brees is expected to get surgery to repair the tear as soon as Sept. 16, ESPN reports. The team expects he'll miss up to six weeks as he rehabilitates.
2. Mr. Brees suffered the injury when he collided with Los Angeles Rams lineman Aaron Donald's hand when attempting to throw the ball.
3. Dr. Shin is the hand surgery director at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles.
4. He is a consultant for the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks.
