College Park-based University of Maryland laid out plans to build a $36 million basketball performance center for its men's and women's teams. It will span 60,000 square feet, featuring a sports medicine wing and estimated to take up to three years to complete.
Gulf Breeze, Fla.-based Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and Pensacola, Fla.-based Baptist Health Care are opening a new care center in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. The facility will provide orthopedic and sports medicine care.

The Miami Heat opened a new sports medicine facility on the campus of Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables, Fla. It is the first time an NBA franchise has purchased the rights to a medical center. The Miami Heat Sports Medicine Center features an OR, three physician clinics and 42 exam rooms.
