The San Antonio Spurs and UT Health Science Center in Houston are planning a shared practice facility that would feature a medical wing for sports medicine research, reports My San Antonio.
City Council officials are discussing whether to provide a tax abatement to get the deal over the line.
The awarding of public money depends on how much the Spurs plan to spend on the practice and sports medicine facility and whether the team would create new jobs, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff told My San Antonio.
The Spurs currently practice at their 37,800-square-foot facility, which they took ownership of in 2017, located near the San Antonio Medical Center.
