The Alabama Crimson Tide college football program onboarded Matt Rhea, PhD, as director of performance science on March 2, reports Sports Illustrated.
Before joining the Crimson Tide, representing the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Dr. Rhea served as the high performance coordinator for Bloomington-based Indiana University Football.
He also served as director of sports science at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
Dr. Rhea has a master's in exercise science and physical education from Arizona State University in Tempe and a master's in sports management from the American Public University in Charles Town, W.Va.
He also earned a doctorate in philosophy at ASU, where he focused on exercise and sport science and athletic performance enhancement.
