Douglas Comeau, DO, was appointed director of University Health Services and primary care sports medicine at Boston College.
Five things to know:
1. Effective July 2, Dr. Comeau will succeed Thomas Nary, MD. After nearly three decades as head of UHS, Dr. Nary will remain on staff as a clinical physician.
2. Dr. Comeau currently serves as medical director of sports medicine at the Ryan Center for Sports Medicine at Boston University and Boston Medical Center.
3. Dr. Comeau has worked with Boston College since 2009 as a team physician. His experience also includes serving as Boston University's sports medicine fellowship director, concussion clinic director and head team physician.
4. The leadership transition signals Boston College's transition to a new model of student healthcare that puts UHS in charge of the primary care needs for all students, including student-athletes.
5. In his new role, Dr. Comeau will help guide the university's ongoing COVID-19 response.
