American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine installed Robert A. Arciero, MD, as the 43rd president of the society.
Dr. Arciero spent the last 14 years at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, where he served as professor of orthopedics, director of the orthopedic sports fellowship program and team physician to the UConn Huskies. He is also a physician consultant to the USA National Hockey Program.
Dr. Arciero has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, and with the rank of Colonel, he served in the Persian Gulf War for one tour of duty that involved two operations — Desert Storm and Desert Shield. For these he received a Bronze Star.
