Boston-based New England Baptist Hospital plans to move from its current Mission Hill, Mass., location, according to a Boston Globe report.

The hospitalhas been at that location for nearly 120 years.

Hospital officials told the Boston Globe that there is a possibility that New England could eventually relocate to a place on or near the Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center campus in Boston, although relocating could take up to 10 years.

In the report, officials attribute the decision to move to wear that has occurred on the New England Baptist Hospital campus. Doing such renovations "would be cost-prohibitive," hospital spokeswoman Lisa Rand told the Boston Globe. "A new Boston facility will need to be developed, as our current campus will not meet our future patient care needs," she added.

The hospital has gained notoriety for its orthopedic services. The hospital is dedicated to research efforts and established the NEBH Registry to gather information that will assist in making long-term orthopedic care decisions. In February 2014, the hospital announced a strategic alliance with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston to further orthopedic care and clinical research. Additionally, New England Baptist is the official hospital for the Boston Celtics basketball team, a role it assumed in 1987.
