Neal ElAttrache, MD, will perform an elbow procedure on Los Angeles Angels pitcher C.J. Wilson, according to a report by The Orange County Register.
Here are five things to know:
1. Team orthopedic surgeon Robert Grumet, MD, examined Mr. Wilson's elbow. His MRI showed a "left elbow impingement secondary to arthritis," according to an Angels report.
2. Mr. Wilson also has growing bone spurs. He expects to see Dr. ElAttrache in the next two weeks and then undergo the cleanup procedure.
3. The procedure will end Mr. Wilson's season two months early.
4. Dr. ElAttrache practices with Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. He is chairman of the board of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Foundation and program director for the Kerlan-Jobe Fellowship.
5. Dr. ElAttrache is the team physician for the LA Dodgers and is an orthopedic consultant to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, LA Lakers and LA Kings.
