Tom Carter, MD, will perform knee surgery on Phoenix Suns' Eric Bledsoe, according to a report from the Centre Daily Times.

1. Dr. Carter is the Suns' team orthopedic surgeon. He will perform the procedure to repair a torn meniscus in Mr. Bledsoe's left knee.
2. Mr. Bledsoe was injured during play last weekend after colliding with another player.
3. This isn't Mr. Bledsoe's first knee injury; he spent time in 2013-2014 recovering from a right knee injury and surgery.
4. Dr. Carter has been the head team physician for the Suns since 2000 and previously served as head of orthopedic surgery at Arizona State University. He is the state representative for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
5. Dr. Carter earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh and completed and orthopedic residency at Ohio State University. His additional training includes sports medicine fellowships at Jackson Hole Orthopaedics in Jackson, Wyo., and University of Western Ontario in Canada.
