Jurij Bilyk, MD, and Howard Krein, MD, repaired the fractured orbital bone of Philadelphia 76ers' center Joel Embiid, the team reported.
Here's what you should know.
1. Mr. Embiid suffered the injury after colliding with his own teammate Markelle Fultz March 28.
2. He'll begin the rehabilitation process after a five-to seven-day recovery period. The team has no timetable for his recovery. His eye will be examined, and a recovery timetable will be determined afterwards.
3. Dr. Bilyk is an orbital/oculoplastics surgeon at Philadelphia-based Wills Eye Hospital.
4. Dr. Krein is a plastic/reconstructive head and neck surgeon at Philadelphia-based Jefferson University Hospital.
