University of Colorado Colorado Springs, Penrose-St. Francis Health Services in Colorado Springs and the city of Colorado Springs broke ground on their $61.4 million sports medicine and performance center, according to The Colorado Springs Business Journal.

1. The 104,000-square-foot William J. Hybl Sports Medicine and Performance Center is the first-of-its-kind for the community.
2. Undergraduate and graduate education programs along with clinical practice and sports medicine research will come together at the new center.
3. Officials estimate the center will open in fall 2020.
4. Physicians from Colorado Springs, Colo.-based Penrose-St. Francis Centura Health will provide orthopedic sports medicine and primary care sports medicine services, among others.
5. The center will accommodate more than 400 patients and clients in addition to the 1,400 students who visit daily.
