Wilmington, N.C.-based Cape Fear Sports Medicine will become part of Raleigh, N.C.-based EmergeOrtho Oct. 1, according to a Sept. 4 announcement.
Three things to know:
1. The combination of Cape Fear Sports Medicine and EmergeOrtho is expected to:
- Give Cape Fear patients "increased access to a much larger network of care and services in numerous locations statewide," according to Dale Boyd Jr., MD, Cape Fear president and founder.
- Strengthen EmergeOrtho's medical team, according to Stephen DeBiasi, CEO of EmergeOrtho.
- Grow EmergeOrtho's medical team to include 34 orthopedic, podiatry and spine specialists in the Wilmington region.
2. Dr. Boyd will continue seeing established and new patients at his Wilmington office.
3. EmergeOrtho is one of North Carolina's largest physician-owned, independent orthopedic practices, serving patients in 21 counties.
