The first case was performed with Implanet UK's Jazz posterior fixation system at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital of Birmingham in the U.K.
Here are three things to know:
1. The Jazz system is based on union rods alloy made of titanium or cobalt-chrome.
2. The technology is indicated for use in conjunction with other titanium alloy, unalloyed titanium or Cobalt-Chromium-molybdenum alloy implants to help secure fixation.
3. The U.K. is the second largest European market for spinal fusion, with the adult degenerative spine disease market estimated at over $100 million.
