Colorado Springs, Colo.-based Centura Orthopedics now offers 3D-printed knee replacements, according to The Colorado Springs Business Journal.
Ronald Royce, DO, recently used the 3D-printed replacements on two patients with debilitating knee pain. Surgeons use imaging technology to create a 3D map of a diseased or damaged knee. Those images are sent to a 3D printer to create patient-specific wax replicas.
Centura Orthopedics is part of Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health, which comprises 17 hospitals and 13 affiliate hospitals. The health system employs more than 21,000 people.
