3D printing company gets approval for $84M Buffalo facility for spine, orthopedic implants

Canadian 3D printing company Thinking Robot Studios received approval to purchase a 75,000-square-foot space in Buffalo for a manufacturing and imaging facility on Oct. 29, The Buffalo News reports.

Four details:

1. The Nova Scotia-based company will relocate its operations to the Buffalo facility, where it will develop 3D-printed spine, hip and knee implants.

2. The facility will be responsible for designing implant concepts as well as manufacturing, packaging, sterilization and delivery.

3. Thinking Robot Studios aims to create 270 jobs — a mix of high-end and entry-level positions — over the next five years.

4. The company plans to begin construction on the $84 million facility early next year.
