OrthoCarolina's first total talus replacement with a 3D-printed implant was recently completed by Kent Ellington, MD.
Four things to know:
1. Dr. Ellington is an orthopedic surgeon with OrthoCarolina Foot and Ankle Institute in Charlotte.
2. The procedure was performed on a 69-year-old patient with long-term avascular necrosis.
3. Durham, N.C.-based Restor3D developed the implant, which consists of cobalt chrome metal.
4. OrthoCarolina has 32 orthopedic locations with more than 300 providers, according to its website.
