Apium Additive Technologies' medical PEEK 3D printing application on the Apium M220 Series machine has met biocompatibility criteria for skull and hand implants, 3D Printing Industry reports.
Here are three things to know:
1. Apium's 3D-printed PEEK implants can be also be used to treat hand and upper extremity injuries and infections.
2. The PEEK filament is based on specialty chemicals producer Evonik's Vestakeep i4 G resin, which is designed for long-term implantable device production.
3. The additive manufacturing company aims to use its fused filament fabrication 3D printing technology to improve patient-specific PEEK implant and medical device production.
