A Kootenai County (Idaho) judge ruled that the civil lawsuit against an orthopedic surgeon accused of hiding a camera in his practice’s bathroom will proceed, according to a July 23 report from the Bonner County Daily Bee.
The civil lawsuit was filed against Spencer Greendyke, MD, by 16 anonymous plaintiffs. Dr. Greendyke’s wife and medical practice are also named in the lawsuit.
The allegations in the suit follow criminal charges of video voyeurism and sexual exploitation of a child by preparation of sexually exploitative material. In March, one of Dr. Greendyke’s employees contacted Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, police after finding a digital storage device with videos that appeared to be from a hidden camera in the staff bathroom.
The plaintiffs in the civil complaint allege that Dr. Greendyke also made secret recordings during surgical procedures and recorded visitors to his home. The complaints date back as far as 2005.
Police obtained a warrant for Dr. Greendyke’s arrest on April 4. He turned himself in on the following day and later posted bail.
