Los Angeles County's Harbor-UCLA Medical Center fired an orthopedic surgeon accused of misconduct and failure to disclose medical device payments, The Daily Bruin reported April 21.
Louis Kwong, MD, has faced multiple complaints of sexual misconduct involving patients, delaying acute surgeries in favor of elective procedures and making misogynistic comments to staff.
The publication said he was no longer employed by the hospital in a March 23 report, but at the time it wasn't clear if he was fired or if he resigned.
On Feb. 27, Dr. Kwong received a formal notice of termination from the hospital's chief medical officer, the more recent report said.
Investigators also learned he didn't disclose more than $700,000 in payments from a medical device company and hid his employment at the Lundquist Institute, a nonprofit institution. Dr. Kwong also earned financial incentives for referrals from the devicemaker.
The hospital didn't respond to The Daily Bruin's request for comment.
