Boston Scientific sells microsphere business, readies for $4.2B UK acquisition

Varian Medical is purchasing Boston Scientific's microsphere business for $90 million as the Marlborough, Mass.-based medical device company prepares for a $4.2 billion acquisition of BTG, a cancer and vascular disease company, reports Worcester Business Journal.

Three things to know:

1. Varian Medical will acquire Oncozene, Embozene and Embozene Tandem, Boston Scientific's products that treat arteriovenous malformations in the brain and spine.

2. The three products accumulated $21.2 million in sales in 2018.

3. The deal will be completed after Boston Scientific finalizes the acquisition of BTG, expected in August.
