Spine device manufacturer Aurora Spine posted $1.6 million in second-quarter revenue, representing a decrease of 52 percent for the same period last year.

Four company notes:

1. The cessation of elective surgeries in April were the primary cause of the decrease in second quarter revenue, according to the company.

2. Net income was $30,000 in the second quarter, up from a loss of $40,000 the previous year.

3. Gross margins on total revenues were 40.9 percent for the second quarter, compared to 34.6 percent in the first quarter of fiscal 2020 and 39.5 percent for the second quarter in 2019.

The company attributes the improvement to its strategy of converting third party product sales to "more proprietary Aurora spine products."

4. Aurora Spine completed designs for a posterior sacroiliac joint fusion product and the ZIP-Flex interlamar fixation device.
