Toronto, Canada-based 7D Surgical surpassed the 50th sale of its Flash Navigation system, according to a Dec. 15 news release.

More than 50 units have been sold since 2018, the release said. The Flash Navigation System uses visible light to create imaging for surgical navigation. This means patients and staff don't have to be exposed to intraoperative radiation.

Multiple units were placed in Germany and Switzerland, expanding the company's footprint, the release said.

"Aggressively expanding our international footprint has been a strategic priority for the company in 2020," CEO Beau Standish said in the release. "We have now successfully launched in the U.S., Canada, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean, and are excited to enter into the European market to share our machine-vision technology with the global healthcare community."

7D Surgical also reached its 13,000th pedicle screw guided with Flash Navigation, and completed its first pediatric installation.
