Despite females rapidly entering the healthcare field, the healthcare industry still is mostly comprised of male leadership in Tennessee, according to The Tennessean.
Here are five thoughts:
1. Women do comprise a large portion of the healthcare field with women accounting for 80 percent of the national healthcare workforce. However, a limited number hold leadership roles in the state.
2. In Tennessee, women executives run only five out of 100 healthcare companies and health systems.
3. This figure may not seem super low relative to other industries as merely 4 percent of women run S&P 500 companies.
4. Male CEOs run every publicly traded healthcare company based in Tennessee.
5. Women hold 18 percent of Tennessee companies' board seats.
