Accessing healthcare information online is becoming more mainstream, especially among the millennial generation, according to a report from Healthcare Without Boarders.
Millennials are using all types of technology to learn more about their health, manage health conditions and communicate with their healthcare providers. Here are 10 statistics on how millennials are interacting with healthcare over the past year:
1. Half of millennials have looked up health information online.
2. Twenty-seven percent of millennials use a health or fitness app.
3. Nearly 23 percent of millennials looked up online reviews for care providers or hospitals.
4. Twenty percent of millennials used a website to make an appointment, check lab results or manage prescriptions.
5. Almost 20 percent of millennials used a medical care provider's or health insurer's website.
6. More than 11 percent of millennials communicated with their healthcare provider or health insurance professional electronically.
7. Eight percent of millennials used a blue tooth device to track health and exercise patterns.
8. Nearly 9 percent reported soliciting medical advice on social media.
9. More than 7 percent joined an online health-related community.
10. More than half — 55 percent — feel that a healthy mind leads to a healthy body.
