Three South Carolina-based orthopedic practices have merged to become one large, 27-physician group.
Here are four things to know:
1. Murrells Inlet-based Carolina Orthopaedics, Conway-based Coastal Orthopedics and Myrtle Beach-based Strand Orthopaedics have merged to become OrthoSC, effective Aug. 1. The group includes 27 orthopedic physicians and 11 physician assistants to serve patients with orthopedic injuries and conditions.
2. Together, the specialists have been serving the Myrtle Beach region for many years, providing bone and joint care. The new group will standardize processes and track outcomes with the goal of lowering costs and collaborating with hospitals to provide a higher level of orthopedic care.
3. Onsite services include two ASCs, bone density scanning, durable medical equipment, MRI, platelet-rich plasma injections, X-ray and orthopedic urgent care.
4. The newly formed practice has four locations in South Carolina and will serve as the official orthopedic providers of Coastal Carolina University Athletics.
