An electronic device was reportedly stolen from Irving, Texas-based Las Colinas Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine, causing a 76,000-person data breach.
Three things to know:
1. The breach was reported to HHS' Office for Civil Rights Jan. 18 and is currently under investigation.
2. A business associate was present at the time of the theft.
3. The breached patient information was stored on a portable electronic device.
