The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics in Bethesda, Md., is installing a Surgimate Practice platform to facilitate surgical scheduling across its 28 divisions in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Surgimate Practice is a cloud application that connects schedulers, surgeons, insurance and billing departments through a single workflow.
Previously, nine Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics divisions used the platform. An increase in patients cancelling and rescheduling surgeries during the COVID-19 pandemic led the practice to expand the platform to all divisions.
"Our continued growth necessitated a platform that would help us scale our surgical services organization," Richard Robinson, the practice's chief operating officer, said in a March 2 news release. "The Surgimate platform has proven its ability to deliver great efficiency and standardized data sets to CAO; we are excited to roll it out across the organization."
Founded in 2013 by more than 20 independent practices, CAO now has more than 160 physicians and 60 offices in the tri-state area.
