Construction of Covenant Medical Center's $140 million spine and orthopedic tower will resume in the next 60 days.

The Lubbock, Texas-based hospital temporarily halted construction of the six-story tower in June 2020 to reduce operating expenses and protect caregiver jobs.

The 220,000-square-foot inpatient facility will be used to treat spine, cranial neurosurgery and complex orthopedic trauma patients, according to a news release. It will add 150 beds to Covenant Medical Center.

Construction of the facility is expected to take about two years to complete.
