Des Plaines-based Illinois Bone & Joint Institute launched Epic as its new electronic medical record system July 12.
The Epic installation will enable all Illinois Bone & Joint Institute facilities to operate on a single, integrated platform.
The move to one EHR will allow providers to standardize practices, support care coordination, improve evidence-based care and streamline the patient visit, according to Illinois Bone & Joint, which has more than 100 locations.
Patients will also have access to Epic's patient portal, MyChart, which lets them view medical records, imaging results and scheduled appointments as well as pay bills, communicate with their care team and request prescription refills.
"The move to Epic allows us to keep patient care at the front and center of what we do," said Andre Blom, CEO of Illinois Bone & Joint Institute. "It will allow better visibility for our providers into a patient's medical history, as well as enhance patients' ability to stay more connected and in control of their own healthcare."
The practice will roll out Epic at its clinics throughout this year.
