Four orthopedic and spine practices have informed more than 200,000 total individuals about data breaches in the first quarter of 2022.
1. Jacksonville, Fla.-based Jax Spine and Pain Centers is probing a January ransomware attack involving patient data files. The Jan. 24 data breach affected patient files created before May 2018.
2. IRise Florida Spine and Joint Institute in Boca Raton issued a data breach notice to patients after it was found someone had unauthorized access to an employee email account. The data breach report was submitted to HHSon Jan. 21 and affected 61,595 individuals.
3. Marion-based Central Indiana Orthopedics suffered a data breach that may have exposed the protected health information of up to 83,705 individuals. On March 7, the practice began sending data breach notifications to people whose information was contained in the affected files.
4. Oradell-based New Jersey Brain and Spine was the target of a cyberattack. More than 92,000 patients were affected, according to HHS data. New Jersey Brain and Spine began notifying affected individuals March 20.
