The American Medical Association and KPMG LLP conducted a survey of 1,000 physicians involved in their practices' decision making related to the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015's Quality Payment Program.
Here are five survey findings:
1. The survey revealed fewer than one in four physicians feel well-prepared to meet the quality reporting requirements in 2017.
2. More than half of surveyed physicians reported MACRA requirements are "very burdensome."
3. Fifty-six percent of physicians said they will participate in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System in 2017 and 18 percent plan to qualify for the Advanced Alternative Payment Model.
4. While 51 percent of physicians are "somewhat knowledge" about MACRA and the QPP, only 8 percent reported they are "deeply knowledgeable" about the program.
5. The survey revealed about one-third of physicians will likely not meet the metric of "one patient, one measure, no penalty."
