Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth will shut down its orthopedic unit Sept. 30, and begin sending patients to Longview (Wash.) Orthopedic Associates, according to TDN.com.
Here are three things to know:
1. Board-certified orthopedic surgeon Andrea Young, MD, and physician assistant Ryan Wehmann, who run the orthopedics unit, will be released to "explore other opportunities," PeaceHealth regional spokesman Randy Querin told TDN.com.
2. The other four unit employees of the unit will be offered different jobs within PeaceHealth.
3. An internal review and market analysis showed the orthopedics unit was losing money, although there was no forecast patient loads would decrease.
