North Carolina hospital uses virtual reality in pediatric medical procedures

Children undergoing medical operations are using virtual reality to avoid stress at Charlotte, N.C.-based Levine Children's Hospital, reports WBTV.

Three insights:

1. A grant from Northwestern Mutual enabled children to use the technology during operations.

2. LCH, as part of Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health, provides treatment for children in orthopedics, neurosurgery, neurology and cancer among other specialties.

3. The hospital was named a best children's hospital by U.S. News & World Report for the 12th consecutive year in June.
