New York system to close 2 urgent care centers as business drops during pandemic

Syracuse, N.Y.-based St. Joseph's Health is closing two urgent care centers that have been losing business due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to syracuse.com.

The health system's Liverpool and Fayetteville facilities in New York will permanently shutter, with layoffs expected as a result.

The facilities have 52 employees, including orthopedic physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.

Growing competition during the COVID-19 pandemic led to a drop in patient volumes at the centers, which ultimately forced the decision.
