4 upcoming orthopedic, spine projects totaling more than $250M

In the last 30 days, construction was completed or announced for four multimillion-dollar spine and orthopedic projects at hospitals.

1. Medical City McKinney (Texas) finished construction on a $64 million patient tower that will expand access to orthopedic surgery and trauma care, among other services.

2. Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth on Dec. 16 will top off its 12-story Innovation Tower that will be dedicated to orthopedics and neuroscience. The tower costs about $100 million and is expected to open in 2022.

3. Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, Calif., plans to build a $58 million neurosciences center with 50 beds. The Sharp Grossmont Hospital Neurosciences Center will treat a range of conditions, including cancerous tumors of the head, neck and spine and blood clots in the brain that can cause strokes. Construction is expected to begin in the fall.

4. UAMS Orthopaedic & Spine hospital in Little Rock, Ark., is one of two major construction projects the health system expects to complete in the next 18 months. The hospital costs $68.5 million and is set to open in 2023.
