Warsaw, Ind.-based medical technology company Zimmer Biomet has launched an FDA 510(k)-cleared cementless knee replacement solution, the Persona OsseoTi Keel Tibia.
Persona OsseoTi, which uses anatomical data in combination with 3D printing technology to mimic the architecture of human bones, works with Zimmer's Persona Knee System.
Persona OsseoTi includes an anatomic tibia and 3D-printed technology for biological fixation. It also has a cemented implant option to enable surgeon versatility.
"In addition to the spike-keel design, the Persona OsseoTi Keel Tibia offers the added convenience of a new cemented option with the same bone prep as the cementless option so that surgeons can make an intraoperative decision between a cementless or cemented approach based on bone quality and the unique needs of their patient," Charles Lawrie, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care in Miami and a member of the Persona OsseoTi development team, said in a Nov. 21 press release.
