Former professional tennis player Fernando Perez has undergone two hip replacements at Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute.
Mr. Perez, now the owner of a tennis club, was having difficulty walking due to pain. Now, at the age of 60, he is training for his return to tournament-level tennis, according to a Nov. 13 press release.
Eric Lebby, MD, chief of the division of orthopedic surgery at Lehigh Valley, performed Mr. Perez's procedures. Dr. Lebby performs 800 hip and knee replacement surgeries each year, according to the release.
Mr. Perez had his first hip replaced by Dr. Lebby in 2019, with the second one following in February.
