Martha Murray, MD, is the co-developer of the Bridge-Enhanced ACL Repair — known as BEAR — technique, which is the first FDA-approved medical technology that enables healing of a torn ACL.
The technique was developed in collaboration with Braden Fleming, PhD, and utilizes stitches and a bridging scaffold to stimulate healing in the patient and preserve remaining ACL tissue. The technique has already been performed by various orthopedic and sports medicine surgeons.

- Dr. Murray founded Miach Orthopaedics in 2007, which oversees the BEAR implant.
- The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons awarded Dr. Murray the 2022 Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation Clinical Research Award for her work with the BEAR implant.
- Dr. Murray has served as orthopedic surgeon in chief at Boston Children's Hospital since 2021.
- Dr. Murray has taught as a professor of orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School in Boston since 2000.
