A lawsuit brought by Geico alleging that an orthopedic surgeon and neurologist filed false claims against the insurance company was dismissed.
The 2023 lawsuit alleged Erik Bendiks, MD, and Sonia Pasi, MD, and attorney Ronald Shane Smith violated the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. At the time Geico sought more than $2.8 million in damages over alleged fraudulent medical bills and reports.
But both physicians entered stipulations of dismissal with prejudice and without costs, according to court documents filed Oct. 28. The case is permanently dismissed and cannot be brought again.
